In the Capitoline Museums since 1817 there have been a few changes, caused by the construction of the Gabinetto di Venere (1831-1834) and the Egyptian and Christian galleries (1905-1907) but the Galleria remains essentially what it was in the time of Hakewill - the Albani collection.
Signature, lower left: Drawn by James Hakewill; lower right: Engrav'd by H. Moses. The plate forms part of Hakewill's A picturesque tour of Italy, from drawings made in 1816-1817. The volume was published by John Murray in 1820 and was illustrated with 64 commissioned engravings that were made from Hakewill's drawings. Forms part of: Library Collection. Prints.
