A page from the artist's sketch-pad. In the centre is the Spinario, clearly marked 'Martius'. Surrounding him are minor pieces and sections of decoration that took Hakewill's fancy.
The drawing was glued on a cardboard, originally numbered 5M.40, and kept in a portfolio. Title from note below the drawing. Forms part of: Library Collection. Drawings.
